WE are the world !

For the new year 2016.....

This valley is ours
This world is ours
This sky is ours
This moment is ours
This heavenly age is ours

Beauty of word,
that's we Love of world,
that's we Worth of world,
that's we Future of world,
that's we, We're pure and true souls

We're love of dad
We're love of mom
We're love of all
We're glistening stars
We heal your souls

We smile like flowers
We are free like air
We're pure like dew
We're ego less and true
We're children of God

Would you give a gift?
Leave the world like it
We may pass the bequest
So our children, too say
This world is ours

Oh Baba !!

This poem is an afterthought to an incident you occasionally see on weekends at your home.

In the busy lanes of everyday grind
there creeps in some known angels
from all walks of life,
No measured frequency of their trail,
jailed to their sojourn hopefully every day

On a fine day,
he stood at my doorway
‘give me something, Baba! '
twice and thrice,he did say

Hearing, instantly I rushed to mom
mummy! he is standing at the door
give him something,give him.
Busy in important work, she ignored
‘Say to go for now and come next time'

‘God bless you, my child! have bliss'
the old guy uttered and turned back
‘Live long my child, grow big'
as he stepped away, repeatedly said

Surprisingly, was refused but so much he gave;
no anger, no greed, no envy on his face
For blessings of others, he ever prayed,
though he, himself was least fortunate

UnConquered Soul

This is a small poem for an innocent girl child who traversed my path at the Indian oil yelahanka new town petrol bunk early in the morning yesterday

There she was an angel
Looking through the window panes of my car
Curiously striking a conversation
Making me stare at her eyes
Giving her hope
Of taking the flower vase
 that she was selling
I believe if you
Pay close attention
you will see a sky within her
Vast and deep soul
You will see her hunger to fly
An aura that longs to be in air
I think if you took a second
To understand her thoughts
You would come to know her
To be true and pure
A girl not of this world
But of an old world
when things are still innocent
Still proper
Still a chaotic beauty
I think you would like her
The way she reflects her world
Why on earth do we have this atrocity ?
Of innocent unconquered soul pushed
To harsh realities
So early in life
May there be no kindered soul
Ravaging this beautiful existence

Fervour to bring hope to the downtrodden

Scribbling a small poem on the occasion of the fervour to bring hope to the downtrodden infected with incurable diseases(cancer, end stage vulnerable diseases etc)...

It's just one candle
One tiny flickering candle
A challenge to the darkness
A small beacon in the night

It could be just a gentle touch
A reminder that you’re there
Or a warm, compassionate hug
That shows you understand and care
Maybe it’s a helping hand
A thoughtful, practical deed
A bunch of coins, some laundry
Whatever meets the need

Sometimes it only takes your smile
To encourage and uplift
and should that smile lead to laughter
you have shared a precious gift

There’s comfort in shared Silence
Or in a softly spoken word
Or in taking time to listen
To feelings that must be heard
Yes, it’s just one little candle
Softly glowing in the night
But it can overcome the darkness
If it will only share its light

Just one little candle at a time
Each one giving from its heart
Reaching out to those nearby
Asking them to do their part
To make sure the light keeps growing
Reaching out to those in sorrow
Offering comfort, warmth, and hope
Strength and courage for a better tomorrow

A cruel gaze focuses on our compliance rather than our capability !

A fable to understand the nuances of true Human potential

Hanuman plays a crucial role in the Ramayan. He is asked to discover Sita’s whereabouts , build a bridge across the sea with the aid of the monkeys, fetch the lifesaving herbs that save Lakshman’s life- all of which he accomplishes. Throughout the epic, he proves his capability time and again. He is strong enough to carry mountains and smart enough to trick sea-monsters like Surasa and Simhika.

Yet in the epic, he does not hold any great position. He is just one of the many monkeys Ram encounters in the forest. He is not Sugriva, leader of the monkey troop. He is not Angad, son of Vali, who is told to lead the band of monkeys searching for Sita. He is not Jambavan, the bear or Nila, the monkey, who are given the responsibility of building the bridge. At no point does Hanuman make any attempt to steal anyone’s glory; while in his own temple he stands powerful with a mountain in his hand and his feet on a demon, in Ram’s temple he is most content sitting at the feet of his master, hands in supplication.

Who would not want a Hanuman in his team ? The perfect karya karta, one who is good at his work, one who will do whatever he is told without ever seeking reward or recognition; one who finds validation in obeying his master.

Years after the events in the Ramayana took place ,Hanuman narrates the whole tale to his mother, Anjani. After hearing everything that’s transpired, she wonders aloud,” Why did they go through the trouble of raising an army and building a bridge to defeat Ravan ? Why did you not simply flick your tail and sweep the rakshasa-king and his army away ?”

Hanuman replies,” because no one asked me to.”

And suddenly we wonder if this was a lost opportunity. Everyone saw Hanuman’s obedience and compliance , but no one saw his true potential.Everyone saw Hanuman on their terms, not on his terms. In a world that celebrates alignment and compliance to the vision, systems and processes of an organisation, is the individual increasingly getting invisible ?

Unless the yajaman pays attention to the potential of the devata, the yagna (karya karta) achieves a portion of what it could potentially achieve. The tathastu stays limited by the yajamana’s gaze…

“They see what they want, not what I can give“

At Raju’s auto repair shop all the work is done by his hanuman: Amol, a young boy, who has been working with Raju for 3 years. Amol is a natural, able to fix the most complex of problems. Raju knows he can totally rely on Amol. No job is too big or too small for Amol. He is as happy changing a tyre as he is fixing the brakes. He does not boss over the juniors and does not feel slighted if the seniors ask him to fetch tea.If there is a problem that eludes a standard solution, everyone knows to leave it to Amol.He will, like Hanuman, crossing the sea find a way out.Yes, Raju loves Amol’s work. Yes, Raju admires Amol’s work. But is Raju harnessing Amol’s full potential ?

Here is a "magic formula" for Selling

This recipe is written for our folks at TE Connectivity

Cricbuzz Ka Keeda To Hoga Hi Na, Jab Ho Cricbuzz Ka Mobile App”

With increasing cricket fever Cricbuzz - India’s No. 1 Cricket app launched its TV commercial filled with loads of laughter which revolves around the concept of being cricket bug when you have Crickbuzz app. The Milk Ad features a Cricket Crazy husband engrossed in the Cricbuzz App, and throws the pack of the milk towards his wife, imagining cricket ball in his hand.

What’s the magic selling formula that TV hucksters use to convince millions of people to pull out a credit card , call an 800 number and place an order for a product they do not need ? The answer may surprise you.
No matter how silly and shifty these TV pitches are, when you scrape away the hucksterism ,you see that they follow a legitimate and proven sales formula that includes creating excitement and curiosity ,identifying a problem, offering a solution, reciting the benefits of ownership , establishing credibility ,adding value, up-selling and ending it all with a strong call to action.

Here’s how it works

Without exception these TV Pitches are delivered by people who are wildly enthusiastic and breathlessly excited about the product they are hawking. Excitement, apparently phony over-the-top excitement, grabs buyers attention and arouses curiosity. They then state a problem ,” The problem with blankets is that they always slip off.” The fact that people really don’t have much trouble managing a blanket is immaterial. The need for their product , no matter if the need is non-existent ,is presented with great conviction.

A lengthy ,fast-moving, and repetitious recital of the benefits of ownership ,complete with product demonstration, is delivered. “You will slice a tomato perfectly every time with one simple motion, and cleanup is a snap ! ” “ You will save time and you get perfectly uniform slices for salads and sandwiches !” they add.

A studio audience paid to ooh and ah and applaud wildly in response to the product demonstrations is often used to establish credibility. Short customer testimonials are sometimes filmed and interspersed throughout
the pitch for the same purpose. Statements like ,”If you have a car ,boat or Yacht , you would be crazy not to own one of these ! “ are typical.

But wait , there is more! “Act now and we will include a second one free of charge. All you pay is shipping and handling.” This offer to double the order appears to be adding value for the buyer, but in reality it’s an up-sell.The shipping and handling charges more than cover the total cost of adding another unit and generate additional profit.

Remember the Domino pizzas cliché coupon codes – RX 100 and get 50% discount on 2 large pizzas today. And you fall for the bait…

The seller creates a sense of urgency “You must act now to get this special offer.” “Have your credit card ready and call within the next 10 minutes, and we will include Sanjeev Kapoor’s recipes at absolutely no extra cost to you.” Some even show a ticking clock counting down the time left to buy (e-bay).

There is a lesson to be learned here. While the products are cheesy and the pitchmen are clownish, sales and marketing fundamentals are being closely followed.

Creating excitement and curiosity, identifying the problem, offering a solution, reciting the benefits of ownership, establishing credibility, adding value, up-selling, and ending it all with a strong call to action will close sales for nearly anyone.

Jai Ho - Elections !!

There is always a euphoria on the coming elections in India ---whether its National or State. With the Delhi elections round the corner, I am reminded of a poem very apt for the occasion.

Here I bring my manifesto , O voters be merry,
The tree of your desire will yield blooms and berries...

I am an independent fighter ,banking on my inner stream,
Alone i fight the veteran foes without a guiding team.

Let my rivals boast about their glorious acts and deeds,
I am proud of my cooks , skilled to serve and feed ...

I will gladden every heart, satisfy their need,
I will stop once for all ,the drains of all the streets...

I will brooke no budgetary cuts on cinema songs and commerce,
but when it comes to industry , i will economize...

My sensitive conscience cannot even rest in peace,
unless a water pump is installed in every crooked street...

I will revamp the system ,change the course of life,
And in every voters home a ration card provide...

You have borne heavy taxes for 200 years,
I will give you tax relief ,set you free from fear...

Thinner still will become the clothes of beauties sweet,
Schools will remain closed for seven days a week...

Teachers will draw their salaries for idleness complete,
If students bunk their classes , whom will they teach ?

Conventions of sloth and slump will be reinforced ,
Youngsters will adorn themselves with hair, touching the toes...

Police station will be abolished ,lock-ups will stay,
why should an additional nuisance on our hearts prey...

Come On these are elections we do idolize,
gives a lot to gossip and time to shred...
